European Taxidermy Federation Newsletter March 2011
Dear Friends,
On behalf of the ETF Board, once again, I would like to wish you all a very late happy new year, peace and good fortune to all of you in 2011 and beyond.
There has been a long period of silence since we sent out the minutes from the GM in Longarone as this has been a quiet period for the ETF.
After the GM we found out, that the new statutes did not fullfill the demands from the Kamer van Kophandel in Holland, so we have had to make some corrections and approve the statutes again on the next GM.
The next General meeting is planned to take place in Salzburg at the end of May, but the date has yet to be decided. You will be informed and receive a provisional agenda as soon as we have this date.
Larry Blomquist, Reed Exhibitions and the Austrian taxidermists have started the planning of the WTC 2012 in Salzburg. We hope to have news about this for the GM so we can find out which role the ETF can play and which tasks we can help with.
Larry Blomquist, who is the head organizer of the competition, would like to have a positive cooperation with the ETF and the Austrians with this event.
Membership
As already mentioned in the minutes from the GM 2010 the Spanish taxidermy federation, Antax, has been accepted as a member country and the Swedish taxidermy association, SZK, have reapplied for membership and their application has also been accepted. This now brings our membership country numbers up to 10.
We welcome Sweden back as a member country and look forward to meeting their representatives at future ETF meetings.
Meetings for 2011
Christoph Meier from the VNPS, Switzerland, reports that the Swiss AGM and GM will take place in November 2011, but no date has been fixed yet.
Jan van Hout from the NVP, The Netherlands, reports that from the 4th-6th March 2011 a “Taxidermy for beginners” will take place in “The Woldhuis” Apeldoorn. This course for 45 is already fully booked and there will be a similar course on 7th-9th October 2011 at the same venue. The spring GM will be held on 16th April at the Museum Ecomere on the island of Texel. The AGM will be held on 12th November in the Museum Ecodrome, Zwolle where the Dutch National Championship will be organized. An exhibition of the exhibits from this championship will be exhibited in the Ecodrome until April 2012.
The ATI, (Italian Taxidermy Association), is proud to announce the 10th Open National Taxidermy Competition which will be held in Longarone from 28th April to 1st of May 2011. For further information contact the ATI President, Iginio Bressan at iginio.bressan@gmail.com
And Finally
The ETF committee have been in communication with the EU relating to animal waste product. Rafael Centenera from Spain is taking the lead in this issue, see his conclusions attached to this e-mail.
The New Zealand taxidermy association has been in contact. This association was formed in 2003 and has offered membership to it’s organization to our members. At present they have 60 members who are based not only in New Zealand but in other countries as well. It is always good to have communication with taxidermists from other parts, perhaps we can learn from them or they can learn from us.
As always you can contact the ETF via the web site. We have a new web master, Christoph Meier, and we would like to say welcome to him and to offer any help that we can give. The web site and the newsletter are how we spread information relating to the ETF and if you have anything to say please forward it either to a committee member or to Christoph.
To help the treasurer we ask all the country members to send the number of members to Leon Bouten.
Please note that the president has a new E-mail address: v-reitz@dlgmail.dk.
Please read the attached contact list to ensure that your addresses are correct, and send corrections to the undersigned.
Again it just remains for me to say that I look forward to meeting you all again at the next meeting.
